Go-Keto GK Dual E4 Error Code

Measurement with Error E4 = The meter reads the strip as ‘used’ or ‘contaminated’.

The E4 error code is mostly caused by one of the following reasons:

a) Placing the blood droplet on the strip first and then in the meter, instead of placing the strip in the meter first and then putting a droplet of blood on the strip;

b) Putting blood on the strip too soon before the flashing droplet is showing on the display;

c) performing the test using the wrong sequence.

If you haven’t used a glucose or ketone meter before, you may be doing the test in the  wrong sequence. Please do not put blood on the strip first, and then place the test strip in the meter. Always put the strip in the meter first, wait for the flashing blood droplet sign and only then place the drop of blood on the test strip. If no flashing blood droplet symbol appears on the display it means that the meter isn’t ready yet and you get E-4. The correct order of measurement is:

1. Place an (unused and new) test strip in the meter;
2. Check that the code number in the screen matches the number of the test strip;
3. Wait for the blood droplet icon to flash on the screen;
4. Only now prick your finger with the lancing pen;
5. Wipe off the first drop and use the 2nd drop;
6. Take the meter with the inserted strip into your other hand. And gently touch the drop of blood with the end of the strip;
7. The blood is drawn into the strip. You will see the channel inside the strip filling up;
8. The meter counts down and displays the result;

Tip: Each test strip has a built-in tube (capillary) with the opening at the end of the strip. If you touch the drop of blood with the end of the strip, this tube will suck up the blood. You only need a little blood. Don’t put blood or control solution on the flat top of the test strip or it won’t get into the built-in tube.
