Measurement with error code E5 = too little blood.

E5 means too little blood to perform the measurement. You only need very little blood for a measurement, so in most cases this error code is not related to the puncture or the fingerprick. Too little blood to measure can be caused by:

a) The blood is placed on the flat part of the strip instead of placed on top of te test strip all the way at the end part.

b) With the strip pressed against the finger so that the opening is “clogged”. 

Each test strip has a built-in tube (capillary) with the opening at the end of the strip. If you touch the blood droplet with the end of the strip, this capillary tube fills itself. You only need a little blood. So do not put the blood or control solution on the flat side of the test strip because it will not get into the built-in capillary. Instead touch the droplet with the end of the teststrip.

Make a nice round drop of blood and then gently touch it with the end of the strip. You can see the built-in tube filling up. If after reading the above, you still have questions, please contact us.
