1. Dawn Phenomenon
This is a normal phenomenon where hormones like cortisol and adrenaline are released just before waking up, leading to higher fasting glucose levels. Usually, this is no cause for concern, especially if your ketone levels remain constant.
2. Diet and Nutrition
Fluctuations in your carbohydrate intake can affect your glucose levels. Make sure to plan your meals well and avoid consuming too many carbs at once.
3. Stress and Sleep 😴
Stress and insufficient sleep can impact your blood glucose levels. Try to minimize stress factors and ensure a good night’s sleep.
4. Physical Activity 🏋️
Intensive workouts can temporarily raise your glucose levels. This is normal, and your body will adjust accordingly.
5. Adapting to Keto
Your body needs time to fully adapt to a ketogenic diet. During this period, glucose levels may fluctuate as your body learns to burn fat more efficiently for energy.
If your ketone levels are above 0,5 you are in ketosis. This means your body is starting to adapt to ketosis and burning fat for energy. Consistency is key here, so keep your carb intake low and your fat intake high. That way, you’ll reap the benefits of ketosis, even if your glucose levels show some fluctuation.
Keep a food journal
Note what you eat and how you feel to identify potential triggers for glucose fluctuations. Did you know that the Go-Keto App has a macro-tracker?
Keep track of your blood values
Use the free Go-Keto app to track your measurements and GKI (Glucose-Ketone Index). In combination with your food journal, this will soon give you insight into the factors that cause your fluctuating glucose levels.
💧 Stay Hydrated
Drink plenty of water and ensure you get enough electrolytes.
